Where it all began was, in the early nineties, as a sales manager for a software developer in the Southern US, Hawkett had find a vendor to provide sales training for the company's reps. He searched far and wide but shortly became frustrated because there was no effective way to find and compare vendor choices.

Out of that experience, Hawkett started his company so buyers of services could have a reliable and highly objective partner who'll act on their behalf in the fragmented, confusing training vendor marketplace. This pioneering business concept was simple, yet very effective. Find customers who need help searching for high-quality training vendors. Develop a broad network of those kinds of training vendors. Design and implement processes to bring them together. He was able to do just that.

Connect4Training has now earned its place as a leader in the vendor marketplace with its network of 3000 registered vendors and vendor solutions. Through its Precision Vendor Matching (PVM) service, they've sourced, and brought best-fit vendors together with hundreds of companies that needed specialized vendors for particular projects. Says Hawkett, "Our goal has always been to help save clients time and money when they search for best-fit vendor solutions".

As Connect4Training's services grew, and technology became more viable, in 2002, the Vendor Relationship Manager (VRM) system was hatched. VRM is a state of the art software system that provides online access to detailed vendor profiles and allows companies to build their own vendor database.

VRM came about in response to issues raised by Training and HR Managers. They complained that they were being inundated with phone inquiries, mail and email from new and current vendors. The tasks of manually storing, sharing, and managing all of this information was inefficient, time-consuming and costly. They needed a tool that would automate and simplify those tasks.

Aptly nicknamed, the Virtual Filing Cabinet, the VRM system is the ideal solution to manage a key asset, a firm's vendor knowledge base. But, most importantly, VRM gives key decision-makers in the company, no matter where they are located, 24/7, online access to the same vendor knowledgebase. Vendor selection decisions can be made with less risk, and with the benefit of having faster access to better information. Now, well into 2004, the company that Tom Hawkett started in 1992 has evolved into a true marketplace partner with a focus on helping companies get what they need in order to achieve sustained competitiveness and growth.
